FreePhotobucketDownloader allows you to grab and save to your hard disk any videos uploaded to Photobucket. Its simple and straightforward interface lets you download one video file at a time, and store a copy of it on your computer with exactly the same image quality as the original MP4 file.

This free program opens in a small and simple window that asks you to paste the URL of the Photobucket video you wish to download. Note that the URL the program is expecting is not the one that appears in your browser’s address bar once you have selected a video, but the Email & IM URL that appears in Photobucket under “Video Links”. Unfortunately, the program is unable to read this URL from your clipboard, so you will need to perform the whole copy and paste task. Once the URL has been analyzed and accepted by the program, this will show you a new window with a thumbnail image of the first frame, the title, the video quality, and the path where the file will be saved. All videos stored in Photobucket are MP4 video files, regardless of the original codec used to create the uploaded video. Photobucket converts them all into MP4, and this is the file you will also get.

The program allows you to input a username and a password for authentication purposes, as well as information about your proxy connection, when required.

FreePhotobucketDownloader is a simple yet efficient tool that performs as expected. Despite its obvious limitations (no batch download is supported), this free tool can be an acceptable solution for anyone downloading the odd video file from Photobucket. In return, you will be required to install the Babylon toolbar on your system, and make Babylon your default search engine and website.
